All euro-area countries will issue a commemorative 2-euro coin with a common design at the beginning of 2009 to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the launch of EMU and of the introduction of the euro. The design will be chosen by EU citizens and residents by voting among a number of already pre-selected designs on the specific web site set up for this purpose. Voting will start on 31 January and finish on 22 February 2008. Further information will be posted on the European Commission's website within the next few days at the following address: ec.europa.eu/economy_finance/index_en.htmSource: www.worldcoins.eu

Geert Degryse, webmaster of www.muntslag.be and a friend of mine came up with the following designs: Let me now what you think, and pay his site a visit.

I like them both but I slightly prefer the first version. The use of the globe is nice and the coloured Euro sign would make it perfect!
I would love to have this coin in my collection.
