Arne,yes,it was the Ghanaian Cedi.You can read about it here; www.ghanacedi.gov.gh .There's even some videos that were obviously intended to be used as advertising on Ghanaian T.V.. There are 100 Pesewas in 1 Cedi. Question No. 14; What other British Commonwealth member state in western Africa finally carried out its currency reform after being controversially delayed? Aidan.

Arne,the answer to that one is Nigeria.There was a plan to carry out a currency reform of the Naira that was announced by Charles Saludo,the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria in early 2007,but the Nigerian Government attempted to veto the plan & launched an inquiry to ascertain the currency reform plan's legality.
You were asking about why I know so much about the British Commonwealth.I actually live in New Zealand,which is both a Dominion of the British monarch & a British Commonwealth member state.Most New Zealanders are staunch Royalists,even though the politicians are mainly corrupt republicans & Maori Nationalist troublemakers.
Question No. 15;
On the 1st of January 1881,what numismatic items did Great Britain & Ireland issue that have since been issued in a number of countries around the world,including New Zealand & South Africa?
Aidan.

Arne,you are right.The Postal Order & its close cousins,the Old Age Pension Orders & Widow's Pension Orders (which were introduced during the reign of King Edward VII & discontinued in 2005) strongly resemble banknotes in terms of their designs. The study & collecting of postal orders has been around for a number of years,especially in England.They've been underrated by numismatists though,but I am collecting them. Here's an article; en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Postal_Order .Click on the 'Postal Orders' category tag to see a list of articles about postal order issues in various countries. Question No. 16; What were the 1st 2 countries to declare postal orders (or postal notes) to be legal tender as an emergency currency,thus raising the status of postal orders to being banknotes in their own right? They are listed in the Pick Specialised Catalogue. Aidan.
